What is Paper Brightness? (And Why 104% Is Possible)

Wait, 104% Brightness?

How can you have more than 100% of something? In paper terms, it is a trick of the light. Standard white is 100%. Premium papers use "Optical Brightening Agents" (OBAs) that capture UV light and bounce it back as visible blue-white light.

The result? Paper that literally glows brighter than white.

Why It Matters

Contrast is King. The brighter the paper, the blacker the black ink looks. For legal documents, contracts, and presentations, this high contrast makes the document look authoritative and crisp.

The Blue-White Perception

Human eyes perceive "blue-white" as cleaner and newer than "yellow-white". That's why premium brands like Double A have a distinct cool, bluish tint. It's engineered to look professional.
